September has long been a defining month in the Handiskins calendar, but 2025 has set a new benchmark for late-season drama. Across the country, the "ultimate game of skins" delivered the kind of high-pressure golf that defines the spirit of the competition.
The headline story of the month undoubtedly came from the Royal Hobart Golf Club, where a staggering $440 jackpot on a single hole saw John Medbury clean up with a total of $660. Not to be outdone, Benson Smith at Yass Golf Club demonstrated remarkable composure, capitalising on two major jackpot holes to walk away with a $720 victory.
This month also dispelled the myth that the skins format only favours high handicappers. At Mount Coolum, plus 2 marker Zachary Quirk put on a clinical display, proving that low markers can be the biggest winners when they find their rhythm under pressure. From the squared nines at Colac to the dramatic 18th-hole split at Campbelltown, September has truly been a month of finishes that will be talked about at the 19th hole for a long time to come.
