The ultimate game of skins for club golfers

Wortmeyer the burgler in record payday at Glenelg

28 Nov 2019

Its only the first year of participation in Handiskins for the great Glenelg Golf Club in Adelaide, but boy did they make their mark on the record books.

In scenes reminiscent of the great round from the reverend Bishop in 80's classic Caddyshack, Trevor Wortmeyer shot the lights out in a burgler display that saw the big putts dropping in all day. Wortmeyer's playing partners Rick Karolewicz, Don Shipway, and Neville Brown could only watch on in disbelief, as time and time again, Trevor's big putts landed for big prize-money. All players hit some remarkable shots throughout the day, but it was just one of those days where the golf gods were smiling down on Wortmeyer.

In the end he walked away with a record $955 winners grin, and was duly congratulated by his gracious playing partners. Commiserations go out to Wortmeyers fellow finalists, but it's not long now before these guys can exact revenge on Wortmeyer at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines 29th April to 3rd May on the Gold Coast.

Glenelg Golf Club Handiskins Final 2019

All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought kit out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers. The final standings were:

  1. Trevor Wortmeyer - $955 - Handiskins record payout
  2. Rick Karolewicz - $215
  3. Don Shipway & Neville Brown - $15

Australian Championships Qualifications

All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australasia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2020 Handiskins Australian Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next year (Wed 29 Apr - Sun 3 May 2020). Given the great spirit contesting today we are sure all four finalists would be able to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. Handiskins National Final Packages are now open to qualifiers to secure their rooms.
