Nerve-Wracking Finish! Wayne Orr Survives the Hot Seat to Win a Brand-New LVTONG Golf Cart
In a display of remarkable nerve under intense pressure, Wayne Orr from Singleton Golf Club has won the highly coveted LVTONG golf cart in the 2026 Handiskins National Championship Chipping Competition.
The atmosphere was electric as Handiskins participants lined up for their one shot at glory. The challenge was simple but daunting: a 50-metre chip, with the closest to the pin driving away in a brand-new vehicle.
The Introduction of the "Hot Seat"
This year, emcee Jimmy White turned up the heat by introducing a new twist to the competition, the "Hot Seat". Under this format, the leading golfer currently holding nearest the pin was asked to sit directly in the driver's seat of the LVTONG cart up for grabs.
This brilliant addition gave the lucky punter a chance to enjoy the feeling of what it would be like to own one of these premium vehicles. However, it also placed the leader front and centre of the vocal crowd. It provided incredible viewing for the gallery, as spectators could watch the temporary leader squirm while each new player stepped up to take their shot.
A Tense Wait and a Stirring Victory
As contestant after contestant took their turn, the hot seat rotated many times. Eventually, it was Wayne Orr's turn to take the wheel. What followed was a very nervous wait for the Singleton golfer, as he watched to see if his leading shot would survive the onslaught of the final competitors looking to knock him out of the top spot.
It was a tense finish that came down to the very last shot. Wayne's fingernails would have been bitten down to the quick, but he miraculously survived the final attempts to officially win the cart. A relieved and elated Wayne then entertained the crowd with a stirring speech that had absolutely everyone cheering their beers.
Taking Delivery Back Home
The celebrations continued back on home turf last week when Wayne officially took delivery of his new cart.
