Gainsborough Greens Golf Club 2021 Handiskins Championship

Gainsborough Greens, a club with a huge reputation in South East Queensland signed up for Handiskins for the first time in 2021, and didn't the members love it! A big thank you to Matt and his staff in the proshop and Dennis for a job well done. The club said the members loved it so much they are looking forward to next year already. With over 68 members competing in the inaugural tournament - all eyes were on the 4 finalists as they competed for the honour of being crowned the clubs first Handiskins Champion.

After an early win to Robin East on the first hole - it was all one way traffic for Shaun Blackburn as he managed to pick up the next 11 Skins, with the help of a couple of crucial jackpot holes. It was a dominant performance from Shaun as he held out his clubmates who just couldn't claw back such an established lead on the final 6 holes, with Shaun the deserving winner on the day. That's skins golf though - and whilst Blackburn may have seemed an runaway winner - a putt dropping on a jackpot hole is all it takes to swing momentum to any of the players, and there was some desperately unlucky players that were close to the money on every hole.

Our 4 finalists played the final in great spirit with Shaun Blackburn collecting $670 and the highest money winner on the day. Followed by Robin East $310, Dean Stewart $190 and Mick Jokic $30.

Bridgestone Golf Handiskins Cap

Well done everyone. We hope to see you at the Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines in 2022 on the Gold Coast.

All four finalists received a Bridgestone Golf Cap and fought it out for their share in $1200 of Club Vouchers.

National Championships Qualifications 2022

All four finalists have now also qualified for the national championship and are extended an invitation to contest Australia's best Amateur golf championship at the 2022 Handiskins National Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort next May. Given the great spirit shown in today's club final, we are sure all four finalists would be in with a chance to claim the silverware and be crowned Handiskins National Champion. The 2022 event will be held from Wednesday 4th – Sunday 8th May 2022.
